I am nauseated to my very soul Iqra Aziz and Sonya Hussain are horrified by the sexual abuse of an infant in Mandi Bahauddin.
The actors said the country let its children down
Actor Iqra Aziz was shocked and couldn't speak when she heard the news. This week, police in Mandi Bahauddin, Punjab, arrested a man for sexually abusing a nine-month-old girl. The whole country is scared and upset about it.
On Tuesday, Iqra posted on Instagram Story. She said she has a seven-month-old baby too, and she couldn't find words to say how she felt when she saw this news.
Aziz said the only thing she could think to ask was how anyone could do this to a child.
"Why, how, and when did some men in Pakistan become so deeply troubled that they feel they have the right to take out their frustrations on the women around them? And now, I have to include babies and young children in that statement too."
The star said she was "disgusted to the very core."
The incident, which the man said happened at his house while his wife was at work, left the little girl hurt. The suspect reportedly ran away as soon as the man's wife came home.
Aziz said she couldn't even start discussing sex education when people in Pakistan had no basic understanding of consent, boundaries, safety, and respect.
She said she loved Pakistan; it was her home and she couldn't imagine living anywhere else, but that didn't mean she would keep quiet about the country's problems.
She said she wanted to live in a country where the law protects her children, not just her own careful watching. "A Pakistan where bad people fear the justice system, not one where parents only fear for their kids.
'If my children cannot be safe here, what is the point of my love for this country?'"
Sonya Hussaiyn shared the same view on the system when she responded to the incident, adding, "The Day of Judgment will show why its arrival was necessary."
"The system keeps failing its people, and that is a disgrace," Hussaiyn said.
This latest incident follows a series of violent attacks on girls in Pakistan. Just last week, police in Haripur found the body of a five-year-old who had been raped and killed.
Earlier in August, police arrested a teenager suspected of raping a toddler in Karachi.
According to a report from the child protection group Sahil, 1,914 cases of child abuse were reported nationwide between January and June 2026, including 1,015 cases of child sexual abuse, 558 abductions, 101 missing children, and 35 child marriages.
