Farhan Saeed says playing Anas in 'Bas Tera Saath Ho' was hard on him emotionally.
Actor admits that constant online hate about his character started to impact his mood and actions.
Actor Farhan Saeed has spoken openly about how emotionally hard it was to play Anas in Bas Tera Saath Ho. He said the strong reactions from viewers to his character started to affect his own feelings and actions.
At a recent fan meeting and Q&A session for the drama, Saeed talked about how people responded to the show and the criticism aimed at Anas. He said the constant online attacks on his character became so strong that the people around him saw a change in how he acted.
"The show itself has turned into a drama. People close to me told me I was getting easily annoyed because of the ongoing criticism," Saeed said. He added, "I also felt hurt and troubled from playing this role."
The drama is in its final week and stars Saeed with Sana Javed. Saeed plays Anas, an orphan whose life changes completely when he finds out that the relatives who raised him have been using and cheating him while plotting to take his family property.
After meeting Ansa, played by Javed, Anas starts talking about the tough times he has gone through. The two slowly build a close relationship, even though Anas still hides parts of his past and personal problems.
The character has split the audience, with some viewers criticizing the pacing and direction, while others support showing a male lead who is vulnerable instead of the usual brave hero.
One fan defended the character, saying Saeed acted well and that not every drama needs a "fake hero" who changes overnight. That viewer argued the story is actually about "sharing and understanding".
At the same time, some viewers have questioned how the drama's story was developing, saying that the plot could have focused more on its main conflict and characters.
Saeed had previously talked about Anas in an interview with BBC Urdu, questioning the idea that "men don't feel pain or don't cry." He admitted that women deal with unfair systems, but he also said men go through suffering and silence too.
He made these comments while talking about why he took the role. At that time, Saeed said he had been unsure at first because Anas was very different from any part he had played before.
But the actor also shared that many fans had contacted him to say they felt a connection to Anas and the troubles he went through. He said their messages showed him that the character's pain had touched viewers, even with all the criticism the drama received.
