Actress Sadia Imam posted videos of a Pakistani public school, highlighting the problem of high electricity costs for elementary schools and how kids struggle to learn in very hot weather.
Sadia posted two videos on Instagram: one showing a WAPDA office with fans and AC, and another showing a hot classroom full of kids with no fans on. She captioned it, "You decide what this means."
In the video, students said their teacher told them not to use the fans to save electricity. The video also showed that the fan switches in classrooms were disabled.
Many people commented on Sadia's post, worried about the situation. One person said this happens all over Pakistan. Another guessed the teacher was likely suspended.
The actor's work to bring attention to the problem started online conversations about the state of schools and how higher utility bills affect students.
