Pritam stands up for his song 'Mashooqa' from 'Cocktail 2,' denying claims that it copies another song.

Trouble started soon after the song came out on May 19. People online said the song sounded like the 1993 Italian song 'Se So Arrubate A Nonna' by Bibi & Coco.

After people online compared the two songs, Pritam responded to the criticism in an Instagram Story on Wednesday.

With every song I release, some people act like music detectives. They've made up a new idea called 'imaginary similarities'. It's always the same people with the same 'inspired by' idea.

Pritam continued, "Boss, you're basically doing my publicity for free now. I just want to say to everyone, this isn't good."

This composer has been accused before. People online often say his songs sound like international songs. For example, in 2017, people said his song 'Bulleya' sounded like a song by the American rock band Papa Roach.

Pritam created the music for 'Mashooqa,' Amitabh Bhattacharya wrote the lyrics, and Raghav Chaitanya and Mahmood Ruaa Kayy sing it. Mahmood also reportedly wrote and performed the Italian parts of the song.

The song shows actors Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor playing characters who travel together and slowly fall in love.

Homi Adajania directs Cocktail 2, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna as a main character. This funny and romantic movie is like a follow-up to the popular 2012 film Cocktail, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty.
