Minal Khan tells women to put their health first in her Pinktober message.
Actor supports breast cancer patients and survivors. He stresses that finding it early is key.
Actress Minal Khan told women to put their health first and watch for changes in their bodies. She shared a heartfelt message for Breast Cancer Awareness Month about self-care and seeing a doctor early.
She posted a selfie on Instagram wearing a shirt with a pink ribbon and the word "Fight." She wanted to support women fighting breast cancer, survivors, and those learning to put their health first. Her post also had the hashtag #Pinktober, which is used for breast cancer awareness campaigns in October.
Explaining the photo, Khan wrote, "This pink ribbon is for my sisters fighting breast cancer, for the survivors who inspire us, and for all of us learning to put our health first. 💕"
She also talked about how her view of self-care changed. "I used to think thinking about my own health was selfish. It's not. It's self-love," she wrote.
Khan asked her followers to take a moment from their busy days to check on their health. "Take 1 minute today — for you. Check in with your body. If something feels different or wrong, listen to it and please see your doctor," she added.
Ending her message, she stressed the importance of making time for your own well-being. "You deserve that minute. We all do. 🎀"
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide. Pink ribbons show support for patients, survivors, and families affected by the disease. The yearly campaign, often called Pinktober, aims to raise awareness, encourage early detection, and reduce the shame around breast cancer.
In Pakistan, breast cancer is a major public health problem. Health groups estimate that about one in eight women in the country may get the disease in their lifetime. Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital has also pointed out the large number of women diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
Awareness efforts across the country use October to encourage women to learn about breast health, recognize possible warning signs, and seek medical advice without delay. Groups like Pink Ribbon Pakistan run public awareness campaigns, educational activities, and outreach programs to promote early detection and improve access to information about the disease.
Possible warning signs of breast cancer include a new lump in the breast or armpit, changes in breast size or shape, skin changes, and changes in the nipple. While these symptoms do not necessarily mean cancer, they should be checked by a qualified healthcare professional. Getting to know your own body can help you notice changes, but self-examination does not replace proper medical screening or professional evaluation.
