Katrina Kaif responds to online trolling over her post-pregnancy body

Indian actress Katrina Kaif has spoken out against body-shaming and the pressure to meet social media expectations. She said that if she let criticism control her choices, she could have been "paralysed with fear".

She spoke in London at an event celebrating the UK anniversary of her beauty brand, Kay Beauty. Kaif talked about the close attention she has faced over her looks since becoming a mother.

"We really need to be careful of letting the narrative on social media affect our self-worth and our value," she said. She stressed that online reactions should not decide how people see themselves.

Kaif's comments came weeks after she and her husband, Vicky Kaushal, attended the Ambani family's Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai in September.

Photos and videos from the event led to comments about her weight and looks after childbirth. Kaif welcomed her son in November 2025.

The criticism also led to a wave of support from fans, who pushed back against the body-shaming aimed at new mothers. Filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth was among those who spoke out against judging women for body changes after pregnancy.

Without directly naming those who criticised her, Kaif reflected on how trying to please everyone can harm a person's confidence and ability to make their own decisions.

"Personally for me, if every time that I faced critiques or comments, I let that dictate my actions, I think I would have been paralysed with fear and unable to move ahead in my life or in any sphere of life," she said.

She said, "Sometimes the world celebrates you, and other times you have to be your own biggest fan."

Kaif also tied her words to Kay Beauty's slogan, "It's K to be you." This slogan supports accepting yourself instead of chasing a perfect ideal.

She admitted confidence goes up and down. People have times when they feel their best and times when they struggle to feel that way.

She went on, "Sometimes you feel like you're winning at everything in life, and other times you feel like you can't do anything right. Sometimes you feel and look like the best version of yourself, and other times you're still on the way there."

Kaif urged people to handle these ups and downs with perspective. She said it's important to "take it all lightly, not take yourself too seriously, and just have fun with it."

The talk about Kaif's appearance also highlights how much women's bodies are judged after pregnancy.

On a recent Bigg Boss 20 episode, host Salman Khan criticized people who comment on women's weight gain after giving birth. He didn't name Kaif, but viewers widely saw his words as support for her.

Khan said weight gain after pregnancy is normal. He said new mothers should get time with their families instead of facing comments about how they look.

On the work side, Kaif was last seen with Vijay Sethupathi in Sriram Raghavan's 2024 thriller Merry Christmas. Her upcoming projects include the all-female road-trip drama Jee Le Zaraa, and early talks have also happened about Chandni Bar 2.
