Asim Azhar shows support for Hania Aamir's 'Pablo', calls the song a 'banger'.
Singer says he feels a connection to Hania's way of showing emotions, and wishes for more Pakistani women to enter the pop music scene.
Singer Asim Azhar called actor Hania Aamir "a wonderful artist" and said her new song Pablo is a "big hit."
In a video shared by BBC Asian Network, Azhar talked about the song. He said he connects with Hania "through her emotional way of showing feelings," and he was happy to see this new side of her.
He also replied to people who were judging her too quickly for trying music. He said, "Just because people know her as an actress doesn't mean she can't write and share music as a true way to express herself." He asked fans to see it that way, not judge it like a talent contest.
He pointed out her own written lyrics as especially clever, saying that every line dealt with a different problem she had faced.
Azhar also said, "I hope Pablo is the beginning of more Pakistani women entering pop music; I really think Hania's first album can inspire more women in Pakistan, South Asia, and beyond to do the same."
"I want to see more Pakistani pop girls than Pakistani male pop stars," the singer added.
This wasn't the only time Azhar showed support for Hania's song this week. Earlier, he posted a video of himself in London, using Pablo as the background music.
clip came out just as Azhar finished the UK part of his Asim Ali album tour in London on September 20 at the Troxy — a show he had earlier called his biggest international concert so far.
Pablo marked Hania's entry into the music world. Released on September 9, the song has Hania responding to criticism about her public image, using a mix of Punjabi rap and singing. At the end, there is a surprise voice message from Indian TV star Rakhi Sawant.
