Emraan Hashmi says he is not playing the role of 'Mehmood saab'. People from Pakistan say he cannot do it even if he wanted to.

Only one can exist.

Indian actor Emraan Hashmi told his fans on X on Monday that he will not play 'Mr. Mehmood' in an upcoming movie about his life. In fact, he said he was not even asked to play the role.

Everyone from Pakistan who saw the post probably had the same thought: Surely, he doesn't mean Mr. Mahmood.

So, naturally, someone asked to make sure.

It was a comfort to learn that we were not the only ones thinking about a certain Mahmood. Many others had the same idea.

One person said Hashmi would have been great as Mehmood saab. They even shared a picture of him in the role.

Some people were not so certain. They thought the Indian actor was not good enough to play the difficult character.

Jokes aside, Hashmi was talking about Indian news that said he would play the lead in a movie about Indian filmmaker Mehmood Ali. He wasn't replacing Mahmood Aslam on the very old TV show Bulbulay.

We are not sure if Hashmi could do the Bulbulay role, since Aslam has been doing it for almost 17 years. Maybe they should hire Aslam for the movie instead.
